Curriculum
Our goal is to provide a curriculum that will help children develop
physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.  We hope to
instill in young children a life long love of learning.

Emergent Reading:  Books, music play, manipulatives, board games, learning
charts, conversations, and dramatic play help children to develop emergent
literacy skills such as oral language, concepts of print, alphabet knowledge and
phenomic awarness.

Sensory Play: Young children learn so much about the world through their
senses. We provide time and an opportunity for children to  explore a variety
of materials and mediums.

Music Play:  We sing, we use rhythm instruments, and we move to music.

Art for Young Children:  We use a combination of child-directed as well as
teacher directed art activities.

Outside Play:  We have a large outdoor play area for children to develop their
fine and gross motor skills.  We are outside everyday rain or shine.

Dramatic Play:  We provide puppets, curtains, costumes and a variety of props
for the children to work with.

Woven Word: Early Literacy for Life

Woven Word is a researched based program developed by the Committee for
Children that combines social-emotional learning with emergent literacy skills.
Through the use of dialogic reading and a technique called Question with CARE
children deepen their understanding of themselves and of others.

The Guidance of Young Children

The purpose of all discipline is to help the child develop inner self-control,
acceptable behavior,  and respect for others.  When problems arise, children
are encouraged to solve their own problems verbally.  I will intervene to help
by offering problem solving alternatives when necessary or with pre-verbal
children.
