Leaving mom or dad is can be an emotional experience for young children. Generally we feel that parents know their child best and allow
them to separate in a manner that is comfortable to both parent and child. In situations where separation anxiety is heightened I will set
out a series of age appropriate manipulatives that might interest the child to aid in the transition.

the next day.
Describe how you discipline? Please see our Philosophy page.
Describe how you handle toilet training.
We watch for signs that a child is ready to begin potty training. Parents have been know to encourage their children by displaying a potty
in the home, reading books on potty training, and talking about the process. At daycare if a child is ready to potty train we begin the
process by teaching them how to wash their hands on their own, then we follow by teaching them how to put on and take off their clothes
including shoes. Teaching children these self-care skills builds confidence and helps prepare them for the potty training. Then we pick a
week to begin the potty training process and try to proceed with as little pressure as possible. We take the child to the potty frequently
and give them praise when they are successful and show them how to clean up their messes when they are not. No negative comments
allowed. Usually the children have success by the end of the week if not we break for a brief respite and try again.
Describe organized activities you provide for children. Please see our Curriculum page.
Tell me about yourself. How did you decide to become a provider? I became a childcare provider when my son's providers (an absolutely
couple we love very much) decided to end their 13+ years of service to children.
What do you like most about being a provider? Children change your perspective and enlighten you in so many ways. They teach you to
be accepting of all types of personalities including your own.
How long do you plan to be one? Childcare is career choice for me and I plan on staying in service to children and families until my I reach
retirement age.
Can you describe what a typical day might be like for my child? Breakfast, clean up, basic skills review, art project, outside play, snack
time, clean up, story time, music play, manipulatives, Woven Word, outside play, lunch time, clean up, nap time, wake up, snack time,
story time, free play, pick up time.
Are you affiliated with a hospital? No

possible then feel free to contact me via telephone. Please do not be offended if I may have to call you back at a later time.

Describe the feedback I will receive about my child at the end of the day. If the day allows you will receive an e-mail listing the foods your
child has been offered at mealtimes and the activities they participated in.
What types of records do you maintain concerning my child’s behavior? Your child's behavior is observed daily and any patterns of
unusual, disruptive, or negative behavior will be brought to your attention. It has been my experience that negative behavior is
frequently the result of physical pain (teething, growing, ear infections), impending illness, poor nutrition, lack of sleep, and food
allergies. If the behavior is disruptive I will contact you and ask if any of the above may be the cause. Then I will respond accordingly.
What is your snow day policy? As long as we have power & water daycare will be open. You are required to bring weather appropriate
clothing such as a snowsuit, mittens or gloves, snow boots, hat, chap stick. My snow policy is that we play in it all day.
Where is your phone number? While I am happy to speak directly with you
via the telephone it is often difficult to have such conversations while caring for
number so that I may contact you at a time that minimizes disruptions to our day.
Where exactly are you located? In the past we listed our physical address on
the website and gave it out upon request, unfortunately we had an excessive
number of people driving by very slowly in their cars trying to catch a glimpse of
our daycare. This may seem harmless but it in fact it made both the children and
I uncomfortable. Now interested parties will not receive our exact physical
location until they are ready to schedule an appointment.
