Admission Requirements and Enrollment Procedures
- Each child must visit my home at least 30 minutes before placement.
- If we agree that the child will be placed, the parents must complete and provide the following
forms:
- Childcare Register
- Certificate of Immunization
- Permission Form
- Childcare Agreement Form
Hours of Operation
- Apple Lane Daycare operates from Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.
- The drop off and pick up times are based on the daycare clock.
- I do not work after 5:30 pm.
- You will be charged a late fee of $2.00 per minute after 5:30
- If your child is routinely late in being picked up daycare services may be terminated.
Holiday and Vacation Schedule
- Apple Lane Daycare will not be open the following holidays . You will be charged for these
days.
- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- Columbus Day
- Martin Luther King Day
- 4th of July
- Thanksgiving Day & Day after
- President’s Day
- Labor Day
- Christmas Eve, Day, & Day after
- You will be charged all days you agree to have your child attend daycare and for your vacation.
- I have two weeks paid vacation a year. I also have the option of taking a third week of
vacation without pay.
- You will be given 2 months notice of such dates.
- It is not the provider’s responsibility to arrange or provide alternative care during my vacation.
Payment Plans & Fees
- Payment is made on a weekly basis.
- Your payment must be received the first day of each week.
- Payment must be received before your child will be allowed in daycare.
- There is a $40 charge for any returned checks. If 2 returned checks are received you will be
advised to make your payments in cash.
- There is a $5.00 charge for each day payment is not received.
Required Items
- Diapers, diapering cream, and wipes for children who are not yet potty trained.
- Non-aspirin pain/fever reducer with child’s name and dosage amount .
- Sunscreen during the summer.
- 1 pair of puddle stomping rain boots.
- Water socks during the summer
- 2 complete changes of weather appropriate clothing at all time (shirt, underpants, bottoms,
socks).
Meals and Snacks
- All meals, snacks and beverages will be provided.
- Meals will follow the guidelines recommended by the USDA Child Care Food Program.
- Children are absolutely not permitted to bring gum, candy, and other treats.
- Sample Menu:
Breakfast: Cold cereal, banana,milk.
Snack: Peanuts, carrots, milk.
Lunch: Chicken noodle &vegetable soup, apples, carrots, milk.
Snack: Crackers, milk.
Guidance Policy: My policy is based on creating a positive self-image in our children. I do this by
attempting to providing positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior by using constructive
motivation. The purpose of discipline at Apple Lane Daycare is to help the child develop inner self-
control, acceptable behavior, and respect for others. When problems arise children are encouraged
to solve their own problems verbally. I will intervene to help by offering problem solving
alternatives when necessary or with pre-verbal children.
- A “Time-out” will be used for aggressive, disruptive, or destructive behavior for children if it
is developmentally appropriate.
According to NAEYC (1996), "The purpose of discipline for young children is to teach coping skills
and discourage inappropriate behavior. "Time-out" is not a first choice, but a last resort technique for a
child who is harming another child or who is in danger of harming herself. Used infrequently and for
very brief periods of time (no longer than two or three minutes), time-out may give a child the opportunity
to calm down and cool off after a very frustrating situation. Used often or inappropriately, time-out may
not only be ineffectual--it may be damaging to the child."
- According to their level of development children may be distracted and guided to other
activities.
- Loss of privileges may be used.
- We will attempt to find the most logical natural consequence for any behavior.
- Corporal punishment is not permitted.
Daycare Rules for Children
- You are not to purposely hurt yourself.
- You are not to hurt others.
- If you are playing with something you can keep it until you are finished or until you put it
down and leave it which is another way of saying you are done.
- During group times you will join the group or play by yourself quietly.
- Sand stays in the sandbox. It is not to be thrown, dumped on the ground or others.
- You are to take out only what you are going to play with.
- Materials are to be used as directed or intended and put away when you are finished.
- You will not draw or otherwise mark on other people’s art without their permission.
- No gunplay or aggressive behavior that promotes violence.
- You are to stay on your seat at mealtimes.
- You are not allowed to bring toys from home to daycare.
Drop Off and Pick Up
- If it becomes necessary for someone other than parents to pick up the child verbal and
written permissionmust be provided.
- Your child will only be released to the adult specified in your written consent.
- A form of identification will be required for individuals you have authorized to pick up your
child.
- No child will be released to any person who in the provider’s opinion is under the influence of
drugs, alcohol, or any other substance.
Medical Emergencies
- Immediate first aid will be given.
- An ambulance will be called and the recommendations of the paramedics followed.
- Parents will be notified as soon as possible. If you are not available contacts on your
registration form will be notified.
- Parents are responsible for any expenses incurred as a result of emergency care.
Illness
- Each child will be observed daily for illness.
- If your child becomes ill during the day you will be notified and must have your child picked
up immediately.
- Communicable diseases will be reported to the Department of Health.
- If your child will be missing daycare due to illness please notify me.
- DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD TO DAYCARE IF HE/SHE HAS THE
FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS:
- Temperature of 101 degrees or higher
- Intestinal disturbances accompanied by diarrhea or vomiting
- Sores or discharge from the ears, eyes, or nose
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
- Rash with fever
Hand Washing, Diapering, Sanitizing, and Laundering
- The provider and children will wash their hands:
- Before and after diapering.
- After each use of the toilet.
- Before and after preparing food.
- After handling contaminated materials.
- Diapers will be changed regularly and as needed.
- The diapering area will be sanitized after each use.
- Contaminated toys will be sanitized.
- Bedding will be laundered at least once a week or as needed.
Medication Management
- All prescribed medication must be labeled with the child’s name and accompanied by written
permission fromthe parent to dispense.
- Over the counter medication:
- Must be marked with the child’s name.
- Be accompanied by written permission to dispense.
- Must be marked with the correct dosage.
Termination: In the following cases childcare will be terminated immediately and without notice.
- Child hits, bites, spits, or consistently hurts other children.
- Child chronically “acts out” (foul language, daily tantrums, lack of respect, fails to comply with
daycare rules).
- Child is genuinely unhappy and unable to adjust to being in daycare.
- A parent routinely abuses drop off and pick up times.
- A parent does not pay the provider on time.
- A parent does not pay the provider.
- A parent disagrees with the provider’s guidance policy.
- A parent refuses or is unable to comply with ordinary requests for the child’s well being
(change of clothes).
Potty Training:
When we agree that the time is right and until he/she is totally complete in his training the
following must be observed.
- No wearing of overalls, suspenders , snaps, buckles, belts, or zippers.
- Elastic waist pants only.
- 4 complete changes of clothing every day.
- 7 pairs of thick training pants.
Parental Access to Child
- Parents are free to call anytime to see how their child is doing.
- Parents are welcome to drop in and visit their child anytime.
- Parents are not allowed to nap with their children at daycare.
- Parents have free access to all areas of my house that their children use.
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden and unexplained death of an infant under
one year of age. SIDS, sometimes known as crib death strikes nearly 5,000 babies in the United
States every year. Doctors don’t know what causes SIDS, but they have found some things that
can make babies safer. One of the most important things that can help reduce the risk of SIDS is
to put healthy babies on their backs to sleep. State regulations require that child care providers
place infants to sleep on their back or side unless the parent/guardians provide a doctor’s request
that the infant be placed on their stomach to sleep.
No smoking allowed in daycare.
Fire Safety
- Smoke detectors will have their batteries replaced on a yearly basis.
- Fire drills will be conducted monthly.
Nondiscrimination Statement: This daycare does not discriminate against any ethnic group,
religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
Abuse: I am required by law to report any signs of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse,
child exploitation, or child neglect of the children in my care.
Verbal Agreements: Any verbal agreements we may have are not binding.
